Film scanning is available for both medium format (MF) and 35mm film. MF film is scanned using the Nikon Super Coolscan 9000 ED, up to 4000dpi. 35mm film is scanned using the Nikon 9000 or the Minolta DiMage Scan Elite 5400 up to 5400dpi. MF and 35mm film can both be scanned at either 24 or 48bit for colour (8 and 16bit for monochrome). All prices shown below (in AUS$) include: Burning to either CD or DVD. Digital ICE (optional) for dust and scratch removal (note: Digital ICE will not work with black and white negative film). Scanning of slides or negatives (colour or black and white). Optimized scans include adjustments (such as curves, levels, colour balance and saturation) to match original scanned image. These adjustments are supplied as layers in a Photoshop TIFF or PSD file, and thus do not affect the original scanned image. Sharpening will only be applied if requested, and will be applied as a separate layer, using FocalBlade (from PixelGenius), and as such will not not affect the original scan. Sharpening can also be applied using Photoshop Unsharp Mask (USM) if requested. Images can be saved in a format of your choice (TIFF, PSD, BMP, JPEG, etc). Output DPI can be specified, but will otherwise be at 300dpi. Prices shown are for 8bit/channel scans (i.e. 24 bit for colour). Please add $3 per scan for 16bit/channel scans (i.e. 48 bit for colour). Also note that 16bit files sizes will be twice that of 8bit scans shown below. A 10% discount will apply if 5 or more images are scanned in the same order. A 20% discount will apply if 10 or more images are scanned in the same order.
I am located in Canberra, ACT. To arrange a job, contact me by email at jez@jturnerphotography.com, or call me on my mobile phone on 0423 983 501. Film can either be dropped off or mailed to me. Depending on the job size, scanning will be returned in around 5 working days. If the job is mailed, please add $4 for return postage of your film and CD or DVD (within Australia and New Zealand). When sending film by mail, please use registered post (allowing package tracking), and pack the film between two layers of stiff card or foam core.
